MASON CITY – A Mason City woman who drove drunk with two kids in the car is finally doing jail time for her deed, after violating her probation in the case.
Cerro Gordo deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 11000 block of 265th Street on March 18, 2016 at 6:16 PM. After an investigation, the driver, 31-year-old Jennifer Lee Fredrickson, was arrested for first-offense operating while intoxicated. Fredrickson had two minors – ages 9 and 4 – in the vehicle which resulted in two charges of charge child endangerment being brought as well.
After a guilty plea, Fredrickson was jailed for two days on the drunk driving charge. She received a deferred judgement on one count of the child endangerment while the other was dismissed. She was to serve a year of probation and if clean during that time, the charge would have been wiped from her record. She was also given a suspended fine. She was ordered to pay $1,917.50 in fines and court fees in this case.
However, Fredrickson has been accused of violating her probation, and was then found guilty of the violation. As a result, her probation was revoked and she was sentenced to 28 days in jail. Records show she now owes $2,094.00 in fines and court fees and has neglected to make a single payment on the balance.
