MASON CITY – A convicted Mason City meth dealer has been sent to jail for 14 days.

Jay Barrientes, age 50 of Mason City, was convicted of dealign meth back in 2016 after a guilty plea. He was given a suspended 10-year prison sentence, a suspended fine and 5 years of probation. He was soon thereafter accused of violating his probation and this month, Judge Rustin Davenport found him guilty.

As a result, Barrientes was sentenced to 14 days in jail. He is in the county jail at this time, serving his sentence.

Barrientes was guilty back in 2014 of shoplifting two items valued at a total of $2.99 from Pure Pleasure in rural Mason City. He was ordered to pay $387.50 in fines and court fees; records show he has not yet made a payment on that balance.

Steal’s 3 bucks worth of butt beads from pure pleasure? Such a classy guy!! Leave Tonto in jail until he pays off his fines, or better yet, just send him over to Iraq so he can get beheaded by ISIS

Did he get to keep the beads?

When you snitch, you get pretty much whatever you want.

This is exactly it. Those who were out doing stupid shit and got caught are able to snitch on others to stay out of trouble. Mason city is filled with fake ass hard snitches.

“Hard” weak if you ask me. Cant even take the punishment for their own actions.

Good grief. Why aren’t parole violators sent to jail to serve out their original sentences in full? The justice system simply cries wolf.

He has been charged with so many crimes before. When will he actually be punished?

Did he help shot a St. Paul cop or what

Jay is not a bad guy he is just misunderstood that’s all.

Selling meth makes you not a bad guy. Your !ogic is poop!!

Do you not know sarcasm when you read it??
Lighten up a bit and you won’t get your underwear in such a bunch.

Oh do you need a snuggy?

He’ll be back in trouble before long very slow learner,no skills unless you call dealing Meth a job.50 years old what a,f*ckin loser. What a way to waste your only life.Hope to God if you have kids they are smart enough to break the cycle and learn from father’s mistakes.

Yeah about 14 days

He violated his probation… send him to serve his 10 years. No wonder crime is on the rise. Do you really think he cares if he has to stay in local jail for 14 days? Wake up judges!!

So you only get probation for dealing meth?

He had been in jail over 14 days waiting to go to jail.

out Sunday the 5th. Some punishment for this low life.

I understand the phrase Justice is blind, so only facts—but come on….this guy, Jay Barrientes, has been a career criminal. From dealing drugs to theft to suspect involving assault and burglary and shootings.
But I guess the door to the cells stay partially open as long as liberal judges are on the bench….such is life, sad

Keep him locked up so he doesn’t poison any more of our children.

They need to lock up this s#%tbag and throw away the key!
