NEW YORK – Republican presidential candidate Donald J. Trump said this morning that he will meet with the National Rifle Association about keeping guns out of the hands of potential terrorists.
“I will be meeting with the NRA, who has endorsed me, about not allowing people on the terrorist watch list, or the no fly list, to buy guns,” Trump said via Twitter Wednesday morning.
The NRA endorsed Trump back in May.
Trump says, however, on his campaign website that “The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed upon. Period.” He goes on to say “The Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right that belongs to all law-abiding Americans. The Constitution doesn’t create that right – it ensures that the government can’t take it away. ”
