HAMPTON, IOWA – Hampton police said Sunday night that a robbery had taken place and they were searching for suspects.
Hampton Chief of Police Robert Schaefer said that at approximately 5:49 PM, the Hampton Police Department received a report of an attempted robbery in the 200 block of 3rd Ave NE. During the attempt, there was a shot that was discharged. There were no injuries from this discharge.
Chief Schaefer says the suspects are two African-American males in their early to mid-twenties.
The incident is still under investigation.
Soon thereafter, tips to NIT said the person who was robbed was Billie C. Wentzel of Hampton. Police could not confirm that she was involved in the case. She left the following post to social media:
Not long after this alleged incident, police in Mason City made a traffic stop, supposedly tied this reported crime in Hampton. Brady LeShaun was with his girlfriend, Hannah Grace and driving in Mason City on South Federal Avenue, on their way to the movies. Here is his post to social media (sic):
“So today around 6:30 pm I got pulled over in mason city and got 5 shotguns, a few assault rifles and pistols pointed at me, my girlfriend and her little brother… They said I matched the description of a black male they were looking for and the car the persons he was with but the thing is i we weren’t wearing any of the clothes they described and they said a red dodge neon but I drive a maroon Saturn Ion…. they threw everything out of my car and threw it on the ground and at the end I called them on (their) bullshit.”
Hannah Grace wrote to social media:
“This (traffic stop) was Brady, my brother, and I. So pissed with the mason city cops, we were driving a saturn not a dodge neon” (the alleged suspect vehicle).
She continued (sic): “Was about to go to the movies and suddenly as we hit Wendy’s in mason city this (officer) put his lights on, naturally Brady pulled over. Then we look out our rear view mirrors and see at least a dozen cops pointing GUNS at us. they tell my brother, brady, and i to put our hands up; one by one we eventually get out of the vehicle to be CUFFED and put into separate cop cars. over and over again i asked what we had done and they continue to tell me, “we will get to it.” as i was in the cop car apparently the description was 1 african american, 3 hispanics, AND ALL MALES that had shot a 9MM gun around the areas of hampton/sheffield, ALSO that were driving a dodge neon 2003. brady’s vehicle is a saturn ion??? also i am a female?? at the end of everything the office proceeded to tell us to file a complaint for wasting our time and then said here’s 20$ for the movies.”
I would’nt go to Hampico if I did not have my carry permit and big henry in my possession.
