CHARLES CITY – A teen drowned this week at a rural park near Charles City.
Christopher Lee Balvanz, age 18 of Hawkeye, died Thursday, May 26, 2016, as a result of an accidental drowning, his obituary says. Christopher was born in Waterloo and was currently a Senior at Sumner-Fredericksburg High School.
A missing person was reported to authorities Wednesday evening at the Chickasaw County Park, about halfway between Charles City and New Hampton. A search was then undertaken.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Hauth Park in Hawkeye.
