DES MOINES – The Board of Corrections approved Corrections Director Jerry Bartruff’s recommendation for Warden appointment to a state prison in Fort Dodge.

Bob Johnson is appointed Warden of the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility. Warden Johnson is currently Deputy Superintendent of the North Central Correctional Facility, a position he has held for thirteen years after being promoted from treatment director of the facility. The appointment was necessary in order to fill the vacancy created when Kris Weitzell was appointed Warden of the Newton Correctional Facility.

Warden Johnson has extensive administrative corrections experience with proven leadership in the management, supervision and treatment of adult offenders.

Warden Johnson will continue to focus on the Department’s Mission to Advance Successful Offender Reentry to Protect the Public, Staff and Offenders from Victimization.

The Fort Dodge Correctional Facility (FDCF) is a medium security prison originally designed to house 762 adult male offenders in a double occupancy celled environment. Construction began in October 1996 and the facility opened in April 1998.
