The announcement came from the Charles City police department just after 11:00 AM.
“We are aware that there is talk on social media of some sexual assaults being investigated in Charles City,” the law enforcement agency said.
“We just want the public to be aware that we are investigating some incidents. We feel these incidents are isolated and we are aggressively acting on them. We know that it is easy to comment on different social media sites but we encourage the public to refrain from this activity as it could hinder the on-going investigation and also prosecution at a later date.”
Police asked the public for any information to be turned over to the CCPD at 228-3366.
