Man with numerous public intox charges back to Beje Clark for a year

MASON CITY – A local man with numerous public intoxication charges who was sent to a halfway house is back in jail in connection with two of his arrests.

Andrew Reed Babbitt, age 28, was booked into the Cerro Gordo county jail Monday afternoon on an arrest warrant that was issued by a judge last Friday. The warrant is in connection to a charge of aggravated misdemeanor third or subsequent offense public intoxication, after a March 20, 2015 arrest by Mason City police. He later pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of second offense public intoxication and was given probation along with a suspended 180 day jail term and $834.45 in fines and court costs. So far, records show Babbitt has neglected to make a payment on that balance. In November, he was accused of violating that probation and sent to the Beje Clark halfway house for 180 days. His latest violation is his second, and he could face all or part of his suspended jail term if found guilty.

After the arrest of Babbit in March of 2015, a Cerro Gordo deputy responded to a disturbance at Kum n Go central, 418 South Federal Avenue on Tuesday, May 19 at about 7:28 PM. After an investigation, Babbitt was placed under arrest on a charge of third offense public intoxication. The charge was later dismissed.

Also this month, Babbitt was found guilty of violating his probation in Mitchell county in connection with a charge of third or subsequent offense public intoxication.  He was given a one year jail sentence.  Court records say Babbitt to serve the sentence at Beje Clark and he is to be held at the Cerro Gordo county jail until room is available at Beje Clark.

Andrew Reed Babbitt is my dad

me

16 years sober, no arrests, no jail time just a lot of fun and no more looking over my shoulder.

There are way to many bleeding hearts out there and just for your knowledge Ive been in his foot steps and I changed. Not to be one sided but if most of the druggies and drunks (as I was called) would own up to their problems there wouldnt be a problem. Quit enabling these people and let them pay for there crimes. Again I did and proud of it. It can be done but YOU have to make it happen, no one else.

Well bookie, I do know that Andrew does not have a driver’s licence. Please don’t judge people unless you have the facts, not generalizations. ” until you walk in their shoes”

I hope they do this to all probation drunks, keep em locked up so they dont drive and kill some innocent person. Put that in your pipe and smoke it drunks.
