ambulanceFLOYD, IOWA – Authorities blame icy roads for a single-vehicle accident Tuesday that left two adults injured and a child with serious injuries.

The accident took place on Tuesday, January 26 at 9:41 AM. The Floyd county sheriff’s office responded to the 209 mile marker of Highway 27 (Avenue of the Saints) for a single vehicle rollover accident.

Jeremiah McClenton, age 27 of Charles City, was traveling westbound on Highway 27 in a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis.  McClenton lost control due to the icy roads and entered the median. McClenton’s vehicle rolled several times coming to a rest on the roof. McClenton was transported to the Floyd County Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

There were two other passengers in the vehicle. Carla Franklin, age 28 of Charles City, was transported to the Floyd County Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. A male juvenile passenger was transported to the Floyd County Medical Center and then later air lifted to Iowa City hospitals by Mercy Air Med for serious injuries.

Marzen’s towing removed the vehicle from the median. The Floyd county sheriff’s office was assisted by AMR ambulance, Floyd fire department, Floyd first responders and the Iowa State Patrol.
