SWALEDALE, IOWA – A person calling herself a witness to a fight in Swaledale last week says the whole thing went down after a vicious accusation, leading an older male to “beg” two Garner men for a fight.
According to the girlfriend of 18-year-old Trevor Kent Hueneman, a 23-year-old man named Christopher from Forest City “begged” her man and his friend, 19-year-old Austin Keith Hodson, to meet him for a fight.
Ever since NIT reported that Hueneman and Hodson had been arrested January 21 after a fight in a park in Swaledale, information from various sources has trickled in. It now seems that the two men – who pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct – fighting or violent behavior and were fined as a result of this episode – were not fighting each other, as a police report (which was very light on details) seemed to indicate. Sources now say a third man beckoned the two men to show up to fight – and he was taken up on his offer.
“This Christopher guy begged Trevor and Austin to come over there (to Swaledale) and fight,” the female witness (name redacted at her request) tells NIT.
“Austin and Trevor go to school with each other and are friends,” she explained. “Christopher and his friend Emily accused Austin of doing something.”
Leading up to the confrontation, the witness says Christopher “asked to fight them and Trev kept saying ‘you don’t want to mess with me’ and he (Christopher) kept asking for them to (meet him for a fight)”.
The messy incident took place on Thursday evening, January 21 at about 8:38 PM at the 300 block of Main Street in Swaledale. The witness says it unfolded this way:
“Austin, Trevor, Gabby, and I were in Garner we get a call from (Christopher) and he’s accusing Austin from doing something. So us 4 get in a truck and go to Swaledale because this (Christopher) begged them to come there and fight with him. When we get there Trevor gets out of his truck and (Christopher) gets out of his car and Trevor says ‘do you really wanna fight me?’ And (Christopher) punched Trevor before he got his last words out. Then Austin pumped (sic) in and this girl Emily who was with (Christopher) started punching Austin in the head. The only people at the park were Trevor, Austin, Gabby, Emily, (Christopher), and I.”
The witness says that everyone eventually left the park, but police stopped their vehicle. She claims “Emily called the cops”.
The witness tells NIT that “Supposably (sic) Emily was accusing Austin of (assaulting) her. And that’s not true. She did this to her last boyfriend. But the funny thing is she can’t bring this up to the cops but she’s telling all her friends.”
The witness says that so far, Christopher – who was never charged with a crime – hasn’t tried to contact Austin Hodson and Trevor Hueneman, that she’s aware of, and that someone from their group plans to talk to Garner police about the situation.
