MANCHESTER, IOWA – An Iowa man was killed this weekend after he was hit by a car as he crossed a street.
According to the Manchester police department, on September 6, 2015 at 9:56 PM, the Manchester Police Department received a call of a pedestrian that had been struck by a car at North Franklin St. and East Acres St. in Manchester.
An investigation indicates Randi William Letts, age 57 of Manchester, was attempting to cross North Franklin Street outside the designated crosswalk area. Sean Boston Brindley, age 24 of Manchester, was traveling south bound on North Franklin Street. Witnesses state Brindley’s vehicle approached the intersection and swerved to miss Letts who was crossing the street in an undesignated area and contrary to lights. Brindley’s vehicle was unable avoid striking Letts.
Lett was transported to Regional Medical Center in Manchester and later died from the injuries sustained from the collision.
The accident remains under investigation.
