WATERLOO – Waterloo police have made an arrest after investigating a shooting last month that left a man dead.
According to police, on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 01:31 AM, the Waterloo Police Department received a report of shots fired from the area of 508 Broadway Street. A short time later, information was received that a male subject had arrived at Allen Emergency Room that had been shot. The male was pronounced dead at this location not long after.
Waterloo police announced today that on Thursday, January 01, 2015, James Robert Ernst II, age 25, was placed under arrest for an arrest warrant charging him with first degree murder. Waterloo Police investigators issued the arrest warrant on Ernst on December 26, stemming from the December 6th shooting. Waterloo investigators, in a cooperative effort with the Cedar Rapids Police Department, led the Cedar Rapids Police Department to 264 15th Street NW in Cedar Rapids, where Ernst was taken into custody without incident.
