WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House of Representatives censured Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan Tuesday for allegedly calling for the destruction of Israel during the on-going conflict in the Middle East following a barbaric attack by Hamas.

Tlaib is the only Palestinian American in Congress. She has been outspoken in her statements on the Israel-Hamas war that began in October when Hamas launched a sneak attack on Israel and murdered 1,400 innocent civilians.

The vote to censure Tlaib was bipartisan and was 234 to 188.

Following the action of her peers, Tlaib (pictured above) said, “I am the only Palestinian American serving in Congress, and my perspective is needed here now more than ever. I will not be silenced and I will not let anyone distort my words. I’m from Detroit, where I learned to speak truth to power, even if my voice shakes.”
