Mason City man accused of drunk driving twice in two days in jail for skipping court

MASON CITY – A man who is accused of drunk driving in two different Iowa counties over the course of two days is in jail for skipping his arraignment.

Chad Martin Bernhardt, age 44, was due in court November 19 for an arraignment in connection to a drunk driving charge here in Cerro Gordo county, due to an arrest by Mason City police on October 19. When, he failed to show up, a warrant was issued of this arrest. Bernhardt was taken into custody Monday morning at the Cerro Gordo courthouse and taken to jail. He is being held on $2,000 cash bond.

Bernhardt is also due in court this week in Palo Alto county court for a drunk driving arrest on October 20 by Emmetsburg police.
