MASON CITY – The inaugural flight from the new Mason City Municipal Airport Commercial Terminal took place today, July 31, 2024. United Flight 5070 arrived at approximately 10:00 AM Wednesday morning, the first flight to use the brand-new facility.

The new terminal was constructed by Dean Snyder Construction of Clear Lake. The total program budget for this project was approximately $18 Millon, of which $15 million was provided by grants from the Federal Aviation Administration, with the remainder provided by the City of Mason City. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on July 24.

Visitors to the new Mason City Municipal Airport Terminal will be greeted by a sculpture, a young child and his toy airplane, as pictured, below. “For those who dreamed they could, follow your dreams,” it says.

“A huge thank you to our generous donors and long time airport supporters, Mark and Diane Holt of Clear Lake,” according to the airport.
