MASON CITY – The Mason City Goodwill Store has a special sales event for veterans starting Sunday, November 9, and all veterans in the North Iowa area are invited to participate.

Goodwill is offering veterans $40 vouchers towards clothing and accessories to help prepare for employment.

“This is our third year, last year only 14 vets came out to the store, so we’d like to see more vets take advantage of this,” said Natasha Oelkers, Mason City Goodwill Store Manager.

“They’ve served us, now we want to help and give back, that’s what this program is all about,” she said.

The special sales event runs from November 9th thru 22nd, 2014.  A Veteran ID card is required.

“Veterans are welcome to just come by the store and ask for a voucher, they will need to show their ID,” Ms. Oelkers said.  “The clothing they pick out should be for them.  If they need something for family or a child, we have other programs for that, too.”

The Mason City store is well-stocked with lots of clothing items for men and women, plus a lot more.  It is located at 3575 4th Street SW.  The store is open Monday through Saturday, 9 AM to 9 PM and Sundays from 10 AM to 6 PM.

This is really great. I hope more vets take advantage of it this year. If you don’t need/want the clothes yourself, please buy something for a vet who needs some help and can’t get to the store. (You’ll need their size first.) 🙂
