WATERLOO – Police in Waterloo are investigating after emergency responders were called to a residence to aid a teen who was shot and unresponsive.
Shortly before 2:00 AM Sunday, October 19, Waterloo Police responded to a report of a female being shot at 520 Elm Street in Waterloo. The responding Officers located a female who was later identified as 17-year-old Jazzmine Rembert in a basement area of the residence. Rembert appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was unresponsive.
Waterloo Fire Rescue determined Rembert was deceased at the scene. During the investigation into the incident, 18-year-old Quaderious Spates was taken into custody and booked at the Black Hawk County jail on charges of Possession of a Weapon by a Felon and Trafficking Stolen Weapons. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed by the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny Monday.
Police said an investigation is on-going and no further information or photos are being released at this time.
Pretty soon the number one cause of death in women will be murder at the hands of their boyfriend/husband, or any of their ex’s. This is a huge epidemic that needs to be addressed.
These murderers have no fear of a life in jail. Jail, to them, is just another gang to join. They’ll make the best friends of their lives there. We need harsher punishment for domestic violence!
