CLEAR LAKE – A Clear Lake restaurant that recently endured a fire had a bit more bad luck this weekend, as thieves reportedly hit the establishment.

The Anchor Inn reported that over the weekend, “somebody decided this weekend to come onto The Anchor Inn patio and steal all the liquor and the kegs of beer.” They also said that property belonging to a beer company was taken.

Police were notified of the incident.

“We are reviewing our cameras,” the Anchor Inn said, and is working with police, promising to “investigate this fully and prosecute who or whomever is involved.”

Clear Lake police have dealt with a rash of burglaries and thefts in recent weeks and months, and some of the crooks are semi-organized and working as teams, according to information passed along to NIT.

In response to the Anchor Inn’s announcement of the theft, a Clear Lake woman said via social media that “Crime … i n clear lake has really increased … 4 thefts for me so far this summer.”

Another Clear Lake man said “I’ve heard about many break-ins up and down [North Shore Drive] in the past month. I live on [North Shore Drive] and if they come in my house they better be prepared to leave in a body bag.”

Still another Clear Lake resident, who owns another bar in town, blamed the Silver Boot Motel, saying “They have some interesting people there now… It’s sad 30% of all calls into the dispatch are to that place as of last week.”

The Anchor Inn recently was able to re-open after dealign with an electrical fire on the afternoon of June 5th. Clear Lake firefighters responded to the Anchor Inn, located at 468 Northshore Drive, for an electrical fire in the kitchen area. No one was hurt in the incident, but the establishment had to close for weeks for repairs. In Late July, the Anchor Inn began to re-open and bring customers back in to enjoy food and drinks.

Anyone with information on this theft should call Clear Lake police.

Curious as to why the police in Clear Lake never investigated the theft of my eardrums and inner serenity?

Automatically I think “inside job” when I read this story. Sometimes businesses that are struggling resort to fake thefts to get insurance money and increase publicity.

@Philly-In your case it is possible they just do not care. Just saying.

I happen to know asswipe that the anchor inn isn’t struggling. Both my sons works there and tells me every night how well they are doing. After renovating after the fire business has picked up quite a bit. Talking about something that you know nothing about is how rumors start.

@ peter, I just found out from my son that the anchor inn has been doing a booming business both before and after the fire so if you don’t know what you are talking about then just shut up.

Are you calling me a wetwipe? Maybe, you’ve already given away too much information. Now someone will be able to track you based on your relations to the 2 fry cooks at the Anchor Inn. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread. The first rule of Internet Blogging: Don’t reveal personal information which could lead to the discovery of your identity. Rule number 2: Don’t run for city council using your real name. 🙂

I guess you got me there, I don’t care if they know who I am and yes I am calling you a wetwipe.
