Mason City man sent to jail for thirty days

MASON CITY – He didn’t make it easy on police along the way, but a Mason City man was finally sent to jail on driving and drug charges this month.

Travis Waslick, age 41 of Mason City, pled guilty on July 13th to driving while barred habitual offender and possession of a controlled substance. Waslick was sent to jail for thirty days and assessed with $1,642.00 in fines and court fees.

Waslick had been arrested on April 30, 2014 by Mason City police. After posting bond the next day and leaving jail, Waslick skipped an arraignment hearing and a court-ordered addiction evaluation at Prairie Ridge.

A warrant was issued for his arrest, and Waslick ran free until June 16th, when police were called to the Days Inn hotel for an unresponsive male laying face down in the grass behind the building. As police arrived, the male subject, later identified as Waslick, got up and ran from the scene. He was soon caught and arrested and then released soon thereafter, only to skip his next court date on July 2nd. On that day, he lied to Clear Lake police, submitting a false report, and was charged. He pled guilty and was assessed $147.75 in fines and fees.

Waslick still awaits a trial on October 30th for possession of drug paraphernalia.
