MASON CITY – East State Street between Georgia Avenue and Connecticut Avenue will be closed to thru traffic for approximately one week beginning Tuesday, July 15th.
This closure is necessary for the installation of new water and sewer services as part of a Community Benefit Mason City project. The historic Egloff House is set to be moved to this location later this year if all goes well. Currently, the foundation of that structure is being excavated and volunteers are preparing to split the house in two for the anticipated move to East State Street.
Houses along this stretch of East State Street continue to be demolished. Last week, demolition of 330 East State Street was completed. The lot will be home to one of the flood buyout houses from the East Park Place neighborhood (four other houses in that neighborhood will also be relocated).
