MC school board to meet Monday and consider salary/benefits for non-bargaining employees

mason-city-schools-admin-bldg-spring-2012MASON CITY – The regular meeting of the Board of Education will convene at 5:30 PM in the Board Room of the School Administration Building.

On the agenda for this week’s meeting is a discussion of roof replacement at Harding School and Hoover School. A bid summary and recommendation for award of the bid for the projects will be made.

A salary/benefits package recommendation for district administrators, supervisors, and other miscellaneous school personnel not under bargaining units will be presented.

Kevin Truax, from the Iowa Public School Insurance Program (IPSIP) will go over the renewal figures for the district’s property and casualty insurance and the worker’s compensation insurance for school year 2014-2015.

The board will consider a recommendation from Superintendent Anita Micich to terminate the employment of Lisa Christianson for purposes of staff reduction.

Jennifer Kammeyer, Chief Professional Officer, United Way of North Central Iowa, will provide the Board with a report on the BackPack Buddies Program at Mason City Schools and present a Partnership Statement of Agreement between United Way of North Central Iowa and Mason City Community School District.

Executive Director for Educator Quality and Leadership T. J. Jumper will present a recommendation for textbook/materials adoption for Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra II. This is the same item that was presented at the May Board meeting that was tabled until further information could be provided.

The 2014-2015 school year is the 100th anniversary of the Masonian. Mason City High School Principal Dan Long will provide the Board with plans for the 100th anniversary edition, budget information related to the publishing of the Masonian and a recommendation for the fee for the 2014-2015 Masonian.

A request will be made for Mason City High School Concert Choir students to travel to New York for five days in March 2015, to perform at Carnegie Hall. Joel Everist, Vocal Music Director, will provide additional information about the trip including specific dates.

A request will be made for Mason City High School Boys’ Cross Country students to travel out-of-state, overnight to Estes Park, Colorado from August 3-8, 2014.

Hal Minear, Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services, will provide the Board with an end of the year enrollment report.

Superintendent Anita Micich will facilitate a Blue Zones Moment.

Lastly, aA closed session will be held to discuss the Superintendent Anita Micish’s evaluation.
