FARAH PROVINCE, Afghanistan – This weekend in western Afghanistan, insurgents attacked Afghan National Police to overwhelm their position.

Due to a significantly more numerous force attacking their position, the ANP called the Afghan National Army for assistance, who immediately deployed a local ANA special forces team to quell the violence.

The ANASF team, in partnership with the ANP, independently defeated the enemy and stabilized the area.

When Afghan National Security Forces are attacked they have the ability to call in other forces for assistance, which is how layered security works.
