DES MOINES – Iowa Public Television was recognized at the capitol, as the network celebrated its 45th year in existence.

Gov. Branstad posed with Clifford the Red Dog at IPTV’s day on the hill.

Executive Director and General Manager of IPTV Molly M. Phillips posed with Branstad for photos as well.

According to IPTV,  Iowa Public Television began in Iowa in 1967 when the State Educational Radio and Television Facility Board was created and charged with developing a state network to broadcast educational programs.  In 1974, KRIN-TV, Channel 32, Waterloo, was activated. In 1975, KSIN-TV, Channel 27, Sioux City; KBIN-TV, Channel 32, Council Bluffs; and KHIN-TV, Channel 36, Red Oak, were activated, bringing public television to three new areas of the state.  In 1977, KTIN-TV, Channel 21, Fort Dodge, and KYIN-TV, Channel 24, Mason City, were activated.

IPTV’s mission is to educate, inform, enrich, and inspire Iowans.
