MASON CITY – Numerous vehicle accidents have been reported Saturday in the North Iowa area and around the region.
A vehicle roll over was reported at about 12:35 PM Saturday at the intersection of 12th Street and North California Avenue, near the NIACC campus. The driver suffered bumps and bruises. The road remained blocked off Saturday afternoon. Other vehicles have slid into ditches and became stuck. Icy roads were mostly to blame for the rash of accidents over the last couple of days.
At 1:17 PM Saturday, a two-vehicle collision was reported in Floyd county at 180th Street and Echo Avenue (southwest of Rudd) intersection with several persons reportedly injured.
At :140PM, an accident was reported at 9th Street and North Federal Avenue.
At least nine people have been killed on Iowa highways since Friday.
In Fayette County, four people died and two were in serious condition after a two-vehicle crash there Friday morning, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
Also later Friday evening, a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 80 southwest of Des Moines claimed the lives of at least four people from Nebraska as well as another person yet to be identified.
