DES MOINES – Reports are surfacing Wednesday afternoon of a shoot-out in the Iowa capitol between Des Moines police and a male subject.
The Des Moines Register reported today that at just before 4 PM, “A man may be shooting a rifle at passing vehicles and at officers on Des Moines’ south side.”
About 10 minutes later, the Des Moines Register reported that police dispatchers said that a man has been detained in the shooting incident.
According to the Register, police shot the man and took him into custody, but not before “several” victims were hurt in the incident.
The incident took place in the 1000 block of Creston Avenue, near Lincoln High School, which was briefly locked down.
