ROCKWELL – A street dance held in Rockwell Saturday night was marred by arrests.
A large crowd gathered in the small town just south of Mason City for live music performed by Boogie & the Yo-Yoz. The event was scheduled from 8 PM to midnight.
Persons in attendance told NIT that “police were showing up as some of the younger crowd started getting rowdy.” Some said that “heavy drinking” was taking place. “We saw at least three” arrests, the source said. “They had to stop the concert for a fight in the middle of a song.”
The Iowa State Patrol and Cerro Gordo County Sheriffs assisted Rockwell police at the scene of the event, which in recent years has been known for this behavior from some in attendance.
Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s deputies also responded to a report of an underage party near the event in downtown Rockwell. The officers located the party which was outside in the front yard and citations were issued for minor consumption.
