MASON CITY – A Mason City man and convicted felon is in jail on an enhanced felony charge of domestic assault.
Brady Joe Hunt, 32, was arrested following an incident on Maple Drive in Mason City. At least six Mason City police officers responded to a call about a domestic assault there at about 5:47 PM Saturday and didn’t clear the scene for about 90 minutes.
Hunt is being held on $5,000 conditional bond and has a court date set for March 1st.
Hunt had a domestic assault charge (3rd or subsequent offense) dismissed in 2009 in Grundy County but still owes $937.98 to the courts in that case. Hunt pleaded guilty, however, to felony 3rd degree burglary and was sent to prison. He still owes the courts $4,441.19 in that case.
Hunt has also been charged in the past with assault (2008), operating while under the influence (3rd offense, 2011), theft (2011 and 2012), assault with intent to inflict serious injury (1999), disorderly conduct and other crimes.
Hunt is pictured below, wearing what is called a “suicide smock.” Jailers indicated that it is used “if someone is intoxicated and make(s) comments or sometimes it is just a gut feeling by staff to be on the safe side.”
