MASON CITY – A Mason City man is headed to prison after sentencing earlier this week.
Justin Duane Ewing, 36, was sentenced to 5 years in prison and other penalties after being charged with assault following an incident at Homer’s Bar on June 23rd, 2012.
According to a police report, three victims were named in the incident and Ewing was charged with serious assault, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
Records show that Ewing was originally charged with assault causing bodily injury but a plea bargain was struck and Ewing plead guilty to assault without intent causing serious injury. In addition to the 5 year prison term, Ewing must perform 20 hours of community service.
Ewimg must also pay $2,463.16 in restitution and court costs.
Ewing has a violent rap sheet which includes charges of willful injury, serious assault, domestic abuse (multiple), disorderly conduct (multiple), public intoxication, obstruction of emergency communications, interference with official acts causing injury, felony 3rd degree burglary (guilty) and more.
