Mason City man ejected from his motorcycle after deer collision

MASON CITY - A Mason City man was riding his motorcycle when he struck a deer, ejecting him from the bike, authorities say.

MASON CITY – A Mason City man was riding his motorcycle when he struck a deer, ejecting him from the bike, authorities say.

On April 21, 2024, at 11:22 PM, The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motorcycle versus deer accident at 230th street and Quail Avenue. Duane Edward Kemna, 63, of Mason City was driving a 2023 Zuma motorcycle on 230th Street heading east bound when a deer came out of the south ditch unexpectedly. Duane struck the deer causing him to lose control of his motorcycle. He was ejected from the bike. Duane was transported to Mercy One in Mason City to be treated for suspected minor injuries.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Mason City Police Department and the Mason City Fire Department.
