Mason City woman arrested for 3rd degree theft after allegedly stealing booze

MASON CITY – Mason City police picked up a woman near downtown on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a third degree theft charge.

Kristina Ann Weis, 37, was arrested at North Georgia Avenue and 3rd Street Monday at about 11 AM and taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail where she is still being held on a $2,000 cash bond.

Mason City police said Wednesday that Weis was arrested and jailed for shoplifting a bottle of alcohol (valued at $18) from Fareway on October 27th and charged with 3rd Degree Theft due to two or more prior theft convictions. Weis was released from jail and issued a future court date, which was set for November 13th. When Weis failed to appear, a warrant was issued for her arrest.

After initially pleading not guilty, Weis then plead guilty to 4th degree theft in 2011.  Judge Colleen Weiland imposed a $315.00 fine and 2 days in jail.  Weis still owes the court $1422.45 in that case.

Records show that Weis was found guilty of 5th degree theft in 2006 after stealing rental property in Mason City. Her Bonanza Restaurant paycheck was set to be garnished to cover court costs, fines and restitution but she still owes $215.00 to the court in that case.

Weis also plead guilty to interference with official acts against the Mason City Police Department in 2011.  She still owes the court $214.50 in that case.

Mason City police also executed a search warrant of Weis’ home in 2011.

Weis, Kristina Ann
SUBJECT IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.
