Lady Gaga talks body image

By Andrea K. Walker, The Baltimore Sun –

Lady Gaga was slammed on the internet this week after adding 25 pounds to her normally svelte figure and is fighting back by promoting people’s right to a positive body self-image.

The popular singer started a “Body Revolution” campaign on her website Little Monsters. She posted pictures of her new fuller body clad in only a bra and panties. She encouraged her fans to post photos of their own bodies, flaws and all.

Gaga is far from fat with her new figure, but not the sticks and bones often glamorized in Hollywood and on the music scene.

She admitted to suffering from eating disorders and loving her new body.

“My weight/loss/gain since i was child has tormented me. No amount of help has ever healed my pain about it. But YOU have,” she wrote on the site. “My boyfriend prefers me curvier, when i eat and am healthy and not so worried about my looks, I’m happy. Happier than I’ve ever been. i am not going to go on a psycho-spree because of scrutiny. This is who I am. And I am proud at any size. And i love you, and want you to be proud in any form you may take as well.”

She is the second high profile figure in recent days to confess to an eating disorder. Talk show host Katie Couric recently said she suffered from bulimia when she was younger.
