We live in a country where we can openly express ourselves, where we need not fear the truth. Truth is the yard stick by which our words are measured, criticism is an automatic form of rebuttal by those who would wish to suppress the truth or disguise it to the point where it becomes invisible to you. This is a common practice of many newspapers.
Whoever expresses their opinions and thoughts in a public form are going to receive an opposing view…that’s a given. We have someone on this site who wants “proof” but would not acknowledge it under any circumstances; and at the same time this same person hides their identity to avoid any retribution from others. If you want to be taken seriously step out of the dark.
When I criticize Eric I do so within the realm of his job performance, a position he so ardently sought, and you out there in cyber space so foolishly gave. I stay out of his personal life, when he goes home and shuts the door what goes on inside that door is no one’s business. But when he steps onto the street at anytime of the day or night he becomes the mayor of this city. I could say a lot of things about Eric but I don’t. I have made references to his weight gain because he’s a public figure, but I have never once said that mother nature wasn’t very kind to him because that is something he can’t really help. I can talk about his job and the way he goes about it because I am entitled to do that. Eric cannot hide like the rest of you people, that’s a privilege he gave up when he was sworn into office.
If you want your words to count, then stand behind what you say, otherwise they are just fumes from the latrine and mean no more than just that.

I’m not sure where you are from but where I grew up if a teacher asked me a question and I kept my mouth shut, I went to detention.If a cop asked me a question and I kept my mouth shut, I went to jail.If a judge asked me a question and I kept my mouth shut, I would be in contempt.If my wife asked me a question and I kept my mouth shut, I would be divorced. But since Matt and Peter are keeping their “mouth” shut it speaks volumes.I do agree, it speaks volumes that they have NOTHING.If they did wouldn’t they show it just to shut me up?

Always good to hear from you “DRUNK”. Maybe I missed it but the only tape I remember is Kuhn berating the idiot that had made racial and sexual inappropriate remarks the night before. Matt what tape do you have? If they have PROOF why are they, Peter and Matt, offering a bounty for anyone who can produce evidence? Inquiring minds want to know!!
Just because a person on such a venue as this, does not offer his given name, should not invalidate what he says or asks unless there is due cause or good reasoning. This is especially true when one makes an honest case for his query or demand.
Such a case can be made with verifiable fact or commonly held knowledge. Not supposition or unproven theory. Commonly held knowledge is for example, is saying a U.S. penny has value. Something so common, that it becomes silly to challenge the statement.
Now, more than ever I take my identity quite seriously. The proprietor of this place knows who I am, and it is easily verified through my IP address. It is sufficient recourse for Matt, and a personal consequence should I become stupid. The rest here know me through the plethora of comments made under this moniker, the only one used. Yes, I have a big mouth!
Back to the case at hand, if you the reader finds a comment made without substantiation, by all means, challenge it. Then listen to the substantiation, and debate that if it is faulty. Don’t write off anyone because for what ever reason, they choose to protect their identity.
There is a huge difference between sitting here and speaking, and standing on a stump in Courthouse Square. Obviously, in the latter case, it would be difficult to remain incognito. Mr. Children and I may agree on one thing. When reading the comments on NIT, it is a difficult task to separate all the Anonymous types.

IF what Matt says is true,that he has talked to dozens of people and witnessed the Mayor being drunk and obnoxious, I would have a different opinion too.BUT I haven’t and Matt has an axe to grind so its kind of hard to believe everything he says without PROOF.
I also don’t necessarily agree with you Peter that whenever he steps out the door he should be on as “Mayor”. BUT if I witnessed him doing something very egregious I might change my mind.
