MASON CITY – The National Weather Service in Des Moines is warning that there is a “very high fire danger today” throughout the North Iowa area.
The report says that “the combination of strong winds, warm temps and low humidity and dried vegetation will result in a very high fire danger today.”
Fires can quickly get out of control and spread rapidly under these conditions.
People are asked to avoid burning outdoors, and if you must, manage fire very closely. Do not leave fires unattended and completely extinguish all fires.
