MASON CITY – Police responded to a car crash Saturday afternoon and took a woman to jail for drunk driving – her third such arrest.
An emergency call was made after a car crash at 4th Street SW and Winnebago Way on Saturday, December 20 at about 2:27 PM. After an investigation, police determined that one of the drivers, 29-year-old Laura Ann Best, was intoxicated and she was arrested and taken to the county jail on a drunk driving charge. She was soon released from jail pending a court date.
Best pleaded guilty to second offense operating while intoxicated in 2009 after an arrested by Mason City police. She had been ordered to pay $3,074.75 in fines and fees but so far have paid only $1,431.00. She was also caught by Mason City police in 2005 and later pleaded guilty to first offense operating while intoxicated.
