Leland “Lee” Breitsprecher, age 90, of Riceville, IA passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Mitchell County Regional Health in Osage, IA.

Lee Breitsprecher was born on April 24, 1935, to Louis and Elsie (Roman) Breitsprecher.

Lee spent his entire life in the Riceville area, living on the same farm since he was two years old. He attended all twelve years of school in Riceville and graduated in 1953.

On February 11, 1967, Lee married the love of his life, Gean Jordan, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.

Following graduation Lee started working at the Riceville Co-op Oil Company in Riceville. He worked for the Co-op for over forty years; he managed the station, motor mart and was a petroleum agent. He retired in 1997. During this time, he also farmed the family farm.

Lee was a lifelong member of the United Church of Christ, where he served as Deacon.

He loved taking trips with his wife. He also enjoyed open wheel racing where many friendships developed, and wonderful memories were made. Music was very important to Lee. Together he and Gean attended many steel guitar shows and concerts with Ray Price (his favorite). He loved the outdoors and owned an Offenhauser sprint car, Harley Davidson and Corvette, which he so enjoyed. He and his wife attended the Indianapolis 500 over 50 times.

Survivors include his loving wife Gean of 58 years, sisters-in-law Glea and Audrey, nephew and niece John (Tracy) Brunner and their children, special cousin Carol Hunchis, along with several other family and wonderful friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, one very special brother Leonard, brother-in-law Duane Brunner and sister-in-law Gail (LeRoy) Tappe, aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, December 8, 2025, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Riceville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Monday morning. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Riceville.
