Jerrett “Jerry” James Faber, 91, of Clear Lake, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Oakwood Care Center, surrounded by love.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1001 9th Ave S., Clear Lake, IA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Father Josh Link officiating. Inurnment will take place immediately after the service at Clear Lake Cemetery.

Jerry was born at home on May 5, 1934, in Early, Iowa, to William and Mary (LeStrange) Faber. He was raised with a strong sense of faith, family, and hard work — values that would guide him throughout his life. After graduating high school, he pursued a year of technical training in butchering before proudly serving his country in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957.

On February 11, 1956, Jerry married the love of his life, Marie Sippel, in Early, Iowa. Together they built a beautiful life and raised five children, moving their growing family to Clear Lake in 1959. Jerry devoted himself to his family and his work, spending decades as a dedicated butcher. He began his career at Fareway, then worked at Jensen’s, and later at Easters (now Econo Foods), where he remained until his retirement in 2012. Known for his unwavering work ethic, Jerry never missed a day — not even when it meant walking to work in all kinds of weather.

Those who knew Jerry will remember him as a kind, funny, and genuinely good-hearted man. His warm smile, quick wit, and easygoing nature made him a joy to be around. He had a gift for finding humor in everyday life and an incredible ability to lift the spirits of those around him.

A man of many passions, Jerry loved horseback riding and was most at peace when spending time with his horses and the friends who shared that bond. “Feeding the horses” was a favorite pastime — though those who knew him best might smile knowingly at what that phrase sometimes truly meant. He also had a lifelong love of bowling and, later in life, could often be found staying active at the wellness center or taking long walks through town.

Family meant everything to Jerry. He and Marie worked tirelessly to provide a happy, loving home for their children, one filled with laughter, memories, and home-cooked Sunday dinners — especially his famous roast beef and chicken, the recipes for which he kept mostly to himself. Their only household rule? “You’re always expected to go to church on Sunday.” Faith was the foundation of Jerry’s life. He was a devoted Catholic who served his parish as an usher and greeter and lived each day guided by his deep spiritual convictions.

Jerry’s legacy of love, humor, strength, and faith lives on through his family. He is survived by his children: Carol (Greg) Jennings, Sue (Matt) Larsen, Bill Faber, Ellen (Kevin) Miller, and Steve (Angela) Faber; his grandchildren: Andrea (Tom), Amanda (Jeremy), Gregory (Christy), Ehrin (Tony), Jack, Steven (JoElla), Samantha (Matt), Rea, Madison (Makean), Ann Marie (Dillon), Elana (Travis), Michael (Alex), Kaye (Tristan), Jessica (Ayomide), and Sara (Massoma), Joe; his beloved sister, Pam Ryan; 39 great-grandchildren; and many dear friends and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary; his cherished wife, Marie; and his brothers, Don and Dick Faber.

Jerry’s life was a true testament to faith, family, and the power of a good laugh. He will be deeply missed but remembered with great love by all who were lucky enough to know him.
