Dianne Marie Harrison, age 72 of Gilmore City, IA passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at her home. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Faith United Methodist Church in Gilmore City. Visitation will be held from 4-6 pm on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Faith United Methodist Church in Gilmore City. Lentz Funeral Home of Gilmore City is assisting the family.
Dianne Marie Harrison, the daughter of Fred and Christine Nielsen was born on June 12, 1952, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from Gilmore City Bradgate High School. She was united in marriage to Tom Harrison August 1, 1981. Dianne worked as a beautician in her home (Dianne’s House of Beauty) for decades until she fulfilled her true dream of farming with her dad. She volunteered as the lead coordinator for senior citizens meals for years and as an EMT for the Gilmore City ambulance. She also mowed local cemetery lawns for years with Tom. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Gilmore City.
Dianne was an excellent seamstress making wedding gowns and clothing adorned with her own clothing label. She was creative and made elaborate flower arrangements over the years for family events. She was mechanically minded and had a gadget to fix anything. She enjoyed working with her father on the farm most of all but also enjoyed road trips with Tom, often driving overnight and listening to the oldies and country music, miniature schnauzers, square dancing in her early years, and Indian food.
Left to cherish Dianne’s memory are her children, Jean (Eric) Unger of Denver, Colorado and Jan Bonnett of Denver, Colorado; Jenny (Dane) Mohr of Pocahontas, IA and grandchildren, Ava and Nora Bonnett and Elora Mohr. Siblings, Marilyn (Andy) Russell Gilmore City IA, Judy Shields (Jim) Lineville IA, Jane Pershy (Jack) Corydon IA, Kathy Frazier (Wayne)Denison IA and Becky Jergens (Don), Spirit Lake IA and many nieces and nephews. Sister-in-law Mary (Mike) Fanning Merriam KS, and brother-in-law Jim (Diane) Harrison Pocahontas IA, Matt (Angie) Harrison Badger IA and Dan (Laurie) Harrison of Clarion IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Christine Nielsen and husband, Tom Harrison.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Gilmore City United Women in Faith at Faith United Methodist Church in honor of Dianne.
