Mason City man hurt in auto accident Tuesday morning

MASON CITY - A Mason City man's car left an off-ramp and struck a sign, sending it through his windshield Tuesday morning.

MASON CITY – A Mason City man’s car left an off-ramp and struck a sign, sending it through his windshield Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at approximately 8:01 PM, Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s deputies responded to a single vehicle accident on Highway 18 at mile marker 186, the off ramp to Highway 65. Gerald Francis O’connor, age 83 of Mason City, was driving a 1992 Blue Dodge Grand Caravan West Bound on the Highway 18 E off ramp toward Highway 65. O’connor drove off the South shoulder of the roadway and struck a reflective marker sign. The sign came through the windshield and struck O’connor, causing minor injuries. Oconnor was treated at the scene by Mason City Fire Department EMS for injuries and was released.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Mason City Fire Department EMS.
