OBIT: Harold William Bosworth

Harold Bosworth, age 87 of Algona, died Saturday, Jan. 18, at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Algona.

Harold Bosworth, age 87 of Algona, died Saturday, Jan. 18, at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Algona. Service will be livestreamed via Lentz Funeral Home’s website: https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/harold-bosworth. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until the service. Lentz Funeral Home of Algona is assisting the family.

Harold William Bosworth, son of William Harmon and Nellie Mae (Rochleau) Bosworth, was born Feb. 1, 1937, in Algona. He graduated from Algona High School in 1955 and attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1959 with a degree in animal science. On Dec. 26, 1961, Harold was united in marriage to Ruth Marie Wickre at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Livermore. Harold was a self-employed farmer and dairyman with a herd of Guernsey cattle and, later, a hog site manager for Alan Hovey and Mark Walker. He was a member of the Algona Future Farmers of America and was an FFA State of Iowa Farmer. He enjoyed reading, gardening, and his grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

Left to cherish Harold’s memory are his wife of 63 years, Ruth, of Algona; children, Dr. (Col., Retired) William Harold (Linda) Bosworth, of Allen, Texas; James Sherman (Karen) Bosworth, of Algona; and Margaret “Peg” Nell (Michael) McCall, of Algona; eight grandchildren; and two great granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Marilyn Bosworth, Ardis Buffington, and Bonnie Petersen, and granddaughter, Nicole Lynn Bosworth.

Memorials may be directed to the Algona Public Library, 210 N Phillips St., Algona, IA 50511, in Harold’s honor.
