BENTON COUNTY, IOWA - An Iowa man traveling the wrong direction on a highway is dead after a head-on collision with a semi in Benton county.

BENTON COUNTY, IOWA – An Iowa man traveling the wrong direction on a highway is dead after a head-on collision with a semi in Benton county.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on Sunday, December 11, 2022. At about 6:20 PM that evening, a 2004 Honda CRV driven by 21-year-old Tyler J Rosenthal of Cedar Rapids was westbound in the eastbound lanes on Highway 30 near 14th Avenue in Benton county. At this time and location, the CRV collided head-on with an eastbound 2014 Freightliner Coronado semi truck. Both vehicles ended up in the east ditch.

As a result of the collision, Rosenthal was killed.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Benton county sheriff’s office, Belle Plaine police, fire and ambulance, and others.
