Ronald “Ron” L. Bentten, 59 of Manly, died unexpectedly from complications of diabetes, and was welcomed to Heaven and reunited with his dad, Elwood, Friday May 17, 2024.

A Celebration of his life will be held 6:00pm Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 428 W Walnut St, Manly, IA 50456 led by Rev. Linda Johnson Prestholt.
Family will greet friends and relatives from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the church.
He will be laid to rest at his parents’ gravesite at the Manly Cemetery at a later date.

Ron was born October 13,1964 in Des Moines, IA the eldest child of Elwood and Marilyn (Lindflott) Bentten. He attended Harding Elementary School in Mason City and later North Central High School when the family moved to Manly. He continued his education at Mankato State University, earning a Bachelor of Social Work Degree. Using this education, Ron impacted countless lives working as a school social worker in Southern Minnesota. After returning to North Iowa, Ron worked as a manager at Croell Redi-Mix in Osage. In May of 1993 he married Sarah Knudsen. Though the couple later divorced, they blessed each of their lives with a daughter, Jae Desolee Bentten. Jae was the light of his life.

Ron’s love of life shone through his creative spirit. Whether he was painting or sketching, writing new guitar riffs and lyrics, planting flowers or spray painting numerous creations. Ron also enjoyed building intricate and personalized birdhouses, which he lovingly shared with family and friends. Ron’s artistic spirit always shone brightly in his life whether it was in his Harley Davidson and tye dyed t-shirts, bandanas, tattoos or his unique and eclectic home. It’s safe to say, Ron had his own ‘vibe’ and did not apologize for it.

There was nothing Ron couldn’t fix; with a little creativity, some duct tape, and crazy glue, he could repair just about anything. Tinkering and building things from scratch brought him immense happiness. If he could figure out how or why something worked, he could repair it.

God carried Ron many times throughout his life. He found the strength to turn his life in a better direction. Ron found a best friend in his four-legged companion, Rosie, whom he saved from the shelter. But in more ways than one, Rosie was the one who saved Ron’s life time and again. They were two halves of a whole and steadfast companions till the end.

Surviving are his beloved daughter, Jae Bentten and her significant other A.J.Wilder, of Elmira, OR ; mother, Marilyn Bentten of Mason City; siblings, Julie Valler of Cedar Falls, Sue (Steve) Mohlis, of Cedar Falls, and Scott (Dawn) Bentten of Lisbon, ND; four-legged best friend, Rosie; nieces and nephews, Abby Morgan, Greyson Porter, Hunter and Isac Bentten; aunt, Loretta Halfman; as well as many cousins, extended family and cherished friends.

Preceding him in death are his father, Elwood Bentten in 2011; maternal and paternal grandparents, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
