Patricia Crandall was born September 7, 1937, in Franklin County, Iowa, the daughter of Everett and Neva (Jones) Crandall. She attended school in Chapin. Pat graduated from Hamilton Business School.
On November 18, 1956, Pat was united in marriage at the Salem Methodist Church in Chapin to Fred Schoning. Two children were born to this union. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church before it closed. She then became a member of First Grace Baptist Church. Pat worked for the Sheffield Savings Bank, Iowa Public Service (IPS) which became Mid American Energy Company. She was proud of her 38 years at IPS/Mid American, and loved her job.
Pat had a smile that would light up the room. She loved her children, grandsons, and great-grandchildren. Pat and Fred would go to as many of their grandsons school events and sporting events as possible. Pat was very religious and felt close to God. Hardly apart from each other, you would always see Pat & Fred together. Pat and Fred had been married for 67 years.
Those left to celebrate Pat’s life and mourn her passing are her husband, Fred; children: Jeff (Mary) Schoning, Atlantic; Sue (Dan) Fields, Sheffield; 5 grandsons: Chris (Courtney); Zach (Ruby); Jared (Britany); BJ (Courtney); Joe (Emily); 10 great grandchildren: Barrett, JJ, Gigi, Izabella, Harper, Maddie, Lincoln, Griffin, Jaxson, and Maverick; siblings: Jim (Carolyn) Crandall; Lucky (Rose) Crandall; brother-in-law: Owen Bergland; along with many other relatives and friends which she called family.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Leona, Bonnie, and Dorothy; and brother Butch.
