Sharon Faye was born September 4, 1940 in Northwood, IA the daughter of Norris and Laura (Larson) Nelson. She grew up in the area, graduating from Northwood High School. On June 19, 1960 Sharon married Arthur Guy “Art” Moretz at Silver Lake Lutheran Church, and to this union three children were born: Dean, Teri, and Lisa. They also gained a nephew, whom they cherished as a son, Scott. The family made their home in North Iowa where they farmed for many years.

Sharon found her greatest joy in the company of her beloved family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The lake held a special place in her heart, as did winters in Arizona with Art and their many dear friends. Beyond family gatherings, she enjoyed card games, dancing, crocheting pieces for her family to enjoy, and she never turned down a good book. Her home was a haven, filled with infectious laughter and her delicious cooking. Her love, laugh and ever-present smile will be sorely missed. As she danced in the light of joy, love lifted her. As she brushed against us so gently, she lifted us in love.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Art Moretz, of Northwood, IA; children Dean (Tanna) Moretz, Teri (Darin) Dahlby, Lisa (Troy) Christiansen and Scott (Brenda) Moretz, all of Northwood; grandchildren Nathan (Melissa) Moretz, Mitchell (Hannah) Moretz, Timen Moretz, Jami (Cody) Tolzmann, Casey Dahlby, Taylor (Derek) Heideman, Calli Christiansen & fiancé Sawyer Dalluge, Colton (Paige) Moretz and Casson Moretz; great grandchildren Kole and Bria Moretz, Leighton Heideman and baby Tolzmann due in February.

Also surviving are her sisters-in-law Marlys, Jean and Judy Nelson, Joanne Moretz, Cindy Moretz, Marge Low and brother-in-law, Richard Low; special cousin, Gerald (Beanie) Coonrod; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Norris and Laura Nelson; Arthur’s parents, Guy and Myrtle Moretz; her brothers, Richard, Robert and Wayne Nelson; her sister and brother-in-law, Darlene & Seymour Ferley; and two nieces, Gwen Nelson and Pam (Ferley) Badik.
