Dixie Ann Holmes, 70 of Mason City, Iowa, passed away Monday December 18, 2023 at MercyOne Medical Center-North Iowa. Inurnment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Dixie was born May 26, 1953 the daughter of Ernest and Barbara (Shaw) Shackelford. On January 24th, 1981 Dixie was united in marriage to Jody Holmes and to this marriage their son David was born.
Dixie enjoyed doing crafts, especially knitting. Her most cherished time was spent with her family and her grandchildren. She would often relax while working on a puzzle, watching and feeding the birds or tending to her gladiolas she raised in the backyard. Dixie had a love of animals, her dog Dottie was always by her side and loved watching her fish, Ducky & Crackers, in the aquarium. She enjoyed traveling and family fishing trips. Dixie is a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Those thankful for having shared in Dixie’s life include her husband, Jody; son, David (Jessi) Holmes; two grandchildren, Kathrine and Lillian Holmes; and a brother Steve (Barbie) Shackelford.
Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her parents.
