Cory was baptized and confirmed at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockwell. He graduated from Rockwell-Swaledale High School in 1996 and the University of Northern Iowa with honors in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Biology. Cory continued his education completing auctioneer school, received his Real Estate License, was a certified athletic coach, and held multiple other certifications/licenses.

On April 28, 2001, Cory married his best friend and love of his life, Jennifer Christians at Zion St. John Lutheran Church. Together they were blessed with the birth of two sons, Carter Cory and Brett Jaxon.

Cory and his father owned and operated Behr Auction Service. He was also employed at Cerro Gordo County Conservation, Mossy Oak Properties/Boley Real Estate, Cerro Gordo Soil and Water Conservation, as a private land manager, Hunter’s Safety Instructor, and thoroughly enjoyed assisting his beloved Uncle Ronnie in his farming operation.

Cory gave back to this earth with his many talents. He was currently serving as treasurer and auctioneer of Iowa Pioneer II Pheasants Forever, auctioning at Ducks Unlimited banquets and multiple benefit auctions throughout the years. Cory was a member of the Clear Lake Fishing Club and loved to fish with Jennifer in the Walleye Classic. He was instrumental in writing grants and securing funding for multiple land projects in the area, he was most proud of the Blue-Bill Wildlife area south of Clear Lake, the Seglem Addition at Prairie Pothole near Fertile, and the Adopt a Tree program. Cory’s last generous act was being a donor for the Iowa Donor Network.

Cory enjoyed fishing especially at Lake Kabetogama, Minnesota, what he always referred to as “God’s Country”. He also enjoyed hunting, planting trees, shed antler hunting, especially with his buddies in Southern Iowa, and caring for his CRP acres. He truly loved to be outside working on his land and conserving our natural resources.

Cory was THE BEST DAD. He was so proud of Carter’s trumpet talents in band/pep band, courageous performances of Taps at Veterans and Memorial Day services as well as his induction into the National Honor Society. He was also amazed at his understanding of technology. Cory had the honor and pleasure of coaching Brett and his teammates in baseball and flag football over the last ten years. He was so looking forward to seeing those boys grow into high school. Cory took his sons hunting and fishing any chance he got and tried to never turn down an opportunity for a pick up basketball game, to pitch to them or aid their friends. Cory shared his love for sports with his boys taking them to many games and cheering together from the living room. He was a dedicated fan of the KC Royals, KC Chiefs, Iowa Hawkeyes, and UNI Panthers.

Cory is survived by his wife Jennifer, of nearly 22 years, his son’s Carter and Brett, his parents Jane and Dennis Behr, brother Jerrod, sister Andrea (Joel) Sauser, mother and father in law Alberta and Robert Christians, brother in law Jeff (Lisa) Christians, sister in law Jessica (Travis) Hurd, nephews and nieces Reagan, Savannah, Raelynn, Colin, Ian, Nolan and Madelyn.
