HAWKEYE, IOWA – A Northern Iowa wife allegedly viciously attacked her husband with sword, and stands charged with attempted murder.
On January 18, 2023, at 8:29 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a 911 call reporting a domestic assault in progress at a residence on P Ave in rural Hawkeye, Iowa. Fayette county deputies responded to the residence and located a 70-year-old male with severe lacerations to the head. An investigation determined that a verbal argument had taken place at the residence when 58-year-old Kim Renee Cannon from Hawkeye assaulted her husband with a sword, striking him several times to the head.
As a result of an investigation, Cannon was arrested and transported to the Fayette County Jail where she was charged with attempted murder. She is being held in the Fayette County Jail pending an appearance with a Magistrate.
The victim was transported to Gunderson in Lacrosse for life threating injuries.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by The Iowa State patrol and Gunderson Ambulance.
