ROCKWELL – A concerned citizen reported a dog owner to police, who left a dog unattended Saturday in hot weather with no food or water.
A Cerro Gordo deputy responded to the call from a citizen on May 31 at about 1:31 PM, who reported that a dog had been out in the heat for a long period of time and it’s food and water were gone.
The deputy went to 321 3rd Street North in Rockwell to check on the dog, and notified the dog owner of the complaint. The deputy gave the dog water because the owner was not expected back for a few hours. Apparently, no charges were filed.
Experts say that in a very short period of time, an overheated dog can suffer damage to the brain, heart, liver and nervous system.
