ST. LOUIS – UNI men’s golfer Thomas Storbeck has been named the Missouri Valley Conference’s (MVC) Men’s Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league on Thursday.
Storbeck, a senior from Ventura, Iowa, tied for 6th place alongside teammate Tommy Doye on Tuesday at the Big O Classic earlier this week, after carding a total score of 215 (-1) at the Indian Creek Golf Course in Elkhorn, Neb. The Clear Lake High School product notched 12 total birdies during the three rounds of competition, with half coming in the second round alone.
After shooting 75 (+3) in Monday morning’s first round, Storbeck came back and shot a personal-best 68 (-4) in the second round that afternoon. To finish off the tournament, Storbeck carded a 72 (E), paring 11 holes and leading the Panthers to a tie for 10th place overall.
Storebeck, a finance major at UNI, is the son of former UNI football player Bob Storbeck (1983-86) and his wife Rebecca. He has two brothers including Tanner and Tate, who is currently a tight end on the UNI football team.
Storbeck and the Panthers return to the links on Oct. 10-11 at the Grier Jones Shocker Classic in Wichita, Kan.
