OBIT: Judith “Judy” Mead

Judy Mead, 75, formerly of Charles City, passed away April 2nd, 2022, in the comfort of her Lee’s Summit home and in the presence of her family.

A visitation for Judy will be held on Saturday, April 9th, 2022 from 1:00-2:00p.m. followed by a 2:00p.m. service at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home and a graveside sermon at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City. Pastor Matt Howlett from First Baptist Church in Charles City will officiate.

Judy Mead, the daughter of Calvin and Audrey (Billings) Hoy, was born on March 8th, 1947. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1965. She was married to Jerry Mead and to this union three children were born, Christopher, Tatum, and Brody. Judy was co-owner of Charles City Glass and Interiors for most of her working career and skilled at framing and upholstery. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and decorating her home. Her children were always at the forefront of everything she did.

Immediate living family members include her children: Beau (Ann) Mead of Delhi, Iowa, Tatum Mead of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Brody (Ashley) Mead of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; grandchildren: Alaina, Miles, and Eli; sisters: Karol (John) Schlicher of Wichita, Kansas, Janette (Dave) Payne of Charles City, and Jewel Hoy of Charles City; sister-in-law Bev Anderson of Knoxville, Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Jerry Mead; parents, Calvin and Audrey Hoy; in-laws Harold and Mildred Mead; and brother-in-law, Tom Anderson.
