Mason City Public Library to begin phased reopening

Mason City Library

MASON CITY – The library will begin the reopening process on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 with the health and safety of  patrons and staff being the paramount goal, library director Mary Markwalter said in a statement:

The Mason City Public Library will implement an opening plan which includes several phases.

Phase 1 of the plan begins on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 10:00 AM

Until further notice the library will accept materials from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week. Please enter the circle drive and place items in the receptacles along the sidewalk.

Donated items will not be accepted.

The library continues to have a number of digital services available. You can enjoy downloading magazines, e-books, audio books, movies, television shows, music and children’s Tumble Books from the library website www.mcpl.org. The library offers free Wi-Fi outside of the building and into the parking lot. There is no password needed to use the Wi-Fi. These are all free services and are available 24/7.

The Mason City Public Library understands that many community members feel stressed and worried about the threat of COVID-19. The library staff will do what it takes to remove any library stresses from that list. No fines will be charged for overdue items while the library is closed.

For authoritative and current information about COVID-19, we encourage you to contact the Iowa Department of Public Health, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The library will continue to post updates about the reopening process through the library website, www.mcpl.org, Facebook page and local news outlets.
